Allyson Felix
Allyson Michel Felix was born November 18, 1985 in Los Angeles. Paul Felix served as an ordained minister within Sun Valley at Master's Seminary. Marlean Felix taught at Balboa Magnet. Felix displayed a knack for sports early, and discovered her talent for sprinting during her time at Los Angeles Baptist High School. A mere 10 weeks after the initial attempt she made the sport, she finished 2nd in the 200m race at the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix completed her high school education and was signed to an official contract for Adidas. In 2004, she was enrolled at her first year at the University of Southern California, which is where she studied elementary education. Felix was awarded her first Olympic gold medal during the Athens Summer Olympics 2004. Felix broke a junior-world record in the 200-meter race with a time of 22.18. Felix was also the youngest to win the 200 meters at the World Championships that took place in Helsinki in 2005. She was able to defend her record once again in 2007, beating her time-tested Jamaican competitor Veronica Campbell. Felix had a steady performance in Beijing, London Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. She was consistently within the top three places of all events.
